I agree. The 6BE6 is a problem tube for some reason and is almost always weak when I test it. I have learned never to buy these used because the used ones are invariably weak.

I have several receivers that use the subject tube.  Each time I have a
problem the first thing I do is check the tubes in a Western Electric
KS-15650 and when I get to the 6BE6, I find they are weak most of the time.

I wonder what luck others have had with the tube?  Do you replace them
often?  What kind of lifespan do they seem to have?

I replaced two in an HRO 60 about 2 years ago and found a bad one today.
What say you?
