Give me an address to send it to. I believe this is a Germanium type. Sorry it took so long to reply. Your email was in my spam box.
Thanks

Hi Don,

I'm the original poster and I was looking for a Germanium 2N409, not Silicon.  I tried a suggested substitute with out success so if it's alright with you, I'll take you up on your offer of a transistor.  The properties of the Germanium is supposed to be different from the silicon.

I don't have a transistor substitution guide si I went with a suggested piece that ended up not working.  The unit is in the BFO circuit and right now that's the only section of the receiver that isn't working so I can't copy SSB.

The receiver is a Heathkit GC-1A Mohican.

Thanks for the friendly offer.

Bill-WF1L

PS my address is good in QRZ

Does anyone have a   *silicon*   2N409 transistor?
