[AMRadio] 78 records

I have one of the old Edison phonographs.  The records are called "diamond discs" and are much heavier and thicker than conventional 78 RPM records.  The pick-up has a diamond stylus and a "floating" mount.  The diaphram of the pickup is mounted flat in the same plane as the record instead of sideways as on the Victrola-type players.  I also acquired an adapter pick-up head that was made for the Edison player that has a Victrola-type pick-up for conventional records.  It uses the old steel needles.  Amazing how much sound comes out of that old player with no amplification!

Hi Bob,

Go ckeck out the local antique malls. We visit one in Princeton Il about 50
miles North of Peoria that have tons of 78's.

I am always looking for the 80 rpm's that are at least twice as thick for
the windup phonographs.

If you can't find any there is an antique place here in Peoria that may have
some. I can stop by there on my way home one day.

Larry
