I agree with most of what  George said of the R388, except for the
terrible received audio.  You could use the IF output to drive a separate 
amp,  this will work nice.  I this category od receivers,  only
the 390 and 390a are better.  If you collect receivers as I do,  this one  
should be on your list of wants.  Don't forget the R388a/ 51J4 also.   Russ
