From about 30-60 min before local sunset until about 30-60 min after
sunrise at the transmitter site... depending upon conditions. Obviously
better in the late fall and early winter (Oct-Jan).

Hi All,

thank you for the suggestions on the Sony sw 1000t receiver, as i wanted
one with a cassette built in.

Can one of you give me comparison specifications between the 2010 and the
1000t? I have a fax number, if you can not e-mail them.

Telling me to go read the book does not work, as I am visually impaired!

thanks so much.

I wanted to compare the specifications between the Sangean 818cs and the
Sony 1000t, but I believe the Sangean list has crossed over into dust!

I think this is the Web site you all are asking about:
http://www.pjede.de/. It has the history et al about the station. I
think the site is relatively new.

The only one I can think of is the Sony SW-1000T, but it is rather
pricy. See the review in the Radio Netherlands' Receiver Shopping List.
You might be better off with a better performing radio like the later
Drake R8-A or R8-B, and control an external cassette tape recorder
through the receiver's rear panel connections. And since you have your
General Class ticket, the R8 can server double duty as an outboard
receiver through its muting jack to your HF rig.

Hi All,

Who, besides Sangean/Tandy 818cs/DX-392, makes a sw receiver with a
built
in cassette recorder? I like that design, but would like a little
higher
sensitivity than the aforementione dunit has.

thanks.

Hi everyone,

I just discovered Merlin One Network. It's a new(?) shortwave radio station
from the UK (London, England) and so far it's fun to listen to (just music
and no news). Their website is at http://www.mno.net (shortwave frequencies
there) but I think it's a rebroadcaster for commercial uses (but now just
music). But I don't fully understand what it is--does anyone know? They
aren't accepting QSLs right now for some reason.

I heard Radio Luxembourg's old all-music format coming back. Is this true?
Where I heard it was on someone's private home page (I found on
rec.radio.shortwave) but the link didn't work. I remember hearing Radio
Luxembourg just once (or twice?) before it changed format (of course).
